Well-Pict European South Africa
We are glad to report that Ridgewood Farm is doing very well, despite the rocky start to the year. In February we saw the end of one of the driest summers that we have had in many years. Then in March, April and May we received close to our annual rainfall, in just three months where one storm alone cattered us for twelve hours with over 160 km/hour wind speeds and buckets of rain. But we survived and are back on track.
The prospect for the season is looking good with the introduction of two new cultivars, Commitment and Endurance which are already out performing the local historically grown cultivars. With Camarosa no longer being available due to the local South African Strawberry plant politics, we are hoping these to cultivars will become our strong point. Many thanks must go to Morestar nursery which supplied us with world-class plants. Making it the first season that we have had access to decent plants.
