Well-Pict Berries introduces new packaging options As Well-Pict Berries (Watsonville, CA) approaches 2007, the company announced plans to introduce new berry varieties as well as new packaging options as part of its goal to remain a premium supplier of organic berries.
“New strawberry varieties are raising the Well-Pict standard even higher, growing techniques are increasing production, new packaging is on the way, and our raspberry program is expanding,” the company said in a press release.
All of Well-Pict’s strawberries are said to be its own proprietary varieties.

“Never content with perfection, we are constantly developing new varieties to improve our premium berries,” said the company. In the coming year, new strawberry varieties will be shipping from all of Well-Pict’s growing regions throughout California and Baja, providing continued year-round volume availability. These new varieties will represent, said the company, “the best of what a Well-Pict berry is known for: luscious aroma, rich color, conical shape, and of course that sweet Well-Pict flavor.”
The company has also attempted to focus on “the constant challenge of weather and climate, including new techniques to help keep our plants resistant to even the heaviest rainfall.”
Due to popularity of the raspberry program, Well-Pict is expanding its growing areas for raspberries, including its certified organic program. New packaging development is under way, in response to concerns about fuel costs and the environment, and the company is also developing new packaging configurations that are geared to increase shipping efficiency with more units per truckload, achieving cheaper freight rates and reduced fuel costs.
