Group Personnel / Accommodation Manager
Hiller Farms Ltd is a fruit farm producing apples, plums and strawberries which is expanding year on year at a rapid rate.
The cropping season is highly labour intensive and in order to accommodate the required labour, the farm has a purpose built camp facilities which is used between February and November; it has a full capacity of circa 250 workers, most of whom are seasonal workers from Eastern Europe.
We are a responsible employer and an opportunity has arisen to provide a strong link between our seasonal workforce and the Farm Management & Admin teams. This role will report directly to the Farm Manager.
This role is not 9-5, due to the nature of the industry and the role the successful candidate must be very flexible in their working hours and days, it is expected that the job will be more intensive over the cropping season which is May Oct and less intensive outside of these periods. Weekend work may be required as will evening work for events such as welfare clinics for seasonal workers to drop in and discuss any problems.
The successful candidate would:
Be able to demonstrate good Microsoft Excel skills and Microsoft Word skills He highly organised and pro-active with good interpersonal skills Be confident, enthusiastic and assertive with a well disciplined attitude Have a good attention to detail with a methodical and systematic approach Have the ability to look after students needs whilst ensuring the protection of Hiller Farms interests Have a full UK / EU driving license
Duties would include:
Preparation of camp pre season Ensuring harvest / production manager have the required number of staff available at the right time and location. Allocation of accommodation to arrivals / key issuing / camp induction Plan / implement H&S procedures on the camp, including annual checks on Gas and Electric appliances, maintain accurate records. Conduct annual risk assessments on the camp and report action points as needed Presenting requests for investment / spending as required on the camp to the Management team. Liaising the Admin team and Management team with regard to leavers / workers admin etc Developing and updating info packs for new arrivals on the camp / work and area Managing the maintenance on the camp, including getting expenditure approved, speaking to contractors and ensuring work is carried out satisfactorily. Holding drop in evenings for workers to voice concerns Developing systems to improve worker / management interaction with regard to issued on the camp. Organising events for the workers on the camp (BBQs, local football tournament etc)
