Fruitlogistica 5th - 7th February
For a weekend at the start of February it seemes that berlin was the place to be for people from the fruit and vegetable industry. In bound flights from Spain, Poland and Holland and the UK were full of fruit and veg chatter as delegates descended on the German capital. The even, Fruitlogistica was held from the 5th until the 7th of february. Over the last few years the show has grown into one of the most important fairs for the European industry.
Ad Crommentuijn (Well-Pict European Northern) attended the show on behalf of the Well-Pict group on the Thursday and friday. He was greeted not only by his European counterparts but also by delegates from Southern America, the Middle east, Asia and prospective new EU members.
Exhibitors covered every aspect of the business from the obvious producers to the marketers, packaging companies and logistics operators. There was something for everyone. in total 1112 exhibitors from 54 countries filled the site, offering the 20,000 or so visitors from 90 countries plenty of chances to renew old acquaintences and make new contact.
A number of familiar faces to Well-Pict European were manning the stands, Costa Heulva had an impressive display in the Spanish pavilion, where Jose Manuel was representing the strawberries from Huelva and Sol Condado.
In the Dutch pavilion both Fruitworld and their sister company Pede had a stand. Special Fruit had moved away from the Belgian pavilion and had made themselves a home in an impressive two storey high stand.
Well-Pict European's Middle easter supply was represented by Abu Ghannah Farms, Jordan. Khalil was presenting the new PS/BG variety Honor on the Jordan Export Development Boards stand.
Although producers and growers were the most evident stand holders, the event was also an opportunity for customers to offer potential sales outlets. Les Rouge fruits, a Well-Pict European customer presented an impressive company profile.
The 2004 event seemed to be a great success, it might well be worth pencilling in the 2005 show (10/2/05 - 12/2/05)
