Year round organic raspberries at Well Pict
Well Pict Berries continues to expand in both their organic and conventional lines, and will be featuring all their latest developments at this year’s United Fresh Expo at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, May 5-7. Well Pict has developed a new proprietary variety of late summer strawberry that will be shipping this year. This new variety is bred for longer shelf life than other late summer varieties, without sacrificing any of the qualities that Well Pict’s premium berries are famous for: superior flavor, aroma, shape, and color.
In response to increased demand from retailers and consumers, Well Pict’s organic program continues to expand, with added growing areas and new options in product and packaging.
Due to expansion of growing areas in the Oxnard region, Well Pict now offers 12 month availability for organic raspberries. Offered in 6 oz. or 12 oz. clamshells, these delicious berries complement Well Pict’s existing 12 month organic strawberry program.
These premium proprietary variety organic strawberries are available in new packaging as well, with the addition of a new 2 pound pack, along with 1 pound and 8 oz. packs. Rounding out the organic program, sweet organic blackberries, also in 6 oz. and 12 oz. packs, are available from May-July.
In Well Pict’s conventionally grown berry program, our newest design for the 4 pound strawberry clamshell is proving popular with club and retail stores. This smooth-sided clamshell is designed for improved product protection, while addressing concerns about shipping costs and the environment. Packing in a 2x4 configuration with a 160 pallet count, the new clamshell provides approximately 35%
more unit density, resulting in reduced fuel usage and cheaper freight rates without compromising product volume or safety.
