Morestar

Morestar Estate is a South African Agricultural Enterprise involved in production, packing & marketing of fresh produce. Morestar is the Afrikaans translation for Morning Star, derived from the fact that Venus or the so-called bright morning star is clearly visible from this part of the world during the early morning hours. An integral part of the business is the propagation of Strawberry plants. The nursery is managed as a subdivision of the Estate on Various Production sites.

The main nursery if situated +/- 200k0km from Cape Town in the Ceres area, 2700 feet above sea level. Ample natural cooling unites and fertile sandy soil contribute to the extraordinary quality of plant material that Morestar are known for. As a wholesale nursery, they supply more than 20 million plants to the majority of the South African industry. The strength and development of the Strawberry industry lies in production of successful cultivars, and therefore Morestar are engaged in propagation of cultivars out of numerous breeding programmes worldwide.

The varieties of Plant Sciences and Berry Genetics, locally marketed throughout Well-Pict European, are some of the exciting new varieties being propagated by Morestar. The varieties show very good potential and the industry will definintely benefit from new varieties that produce higih volume with excellent quality berries.
