Have you tried putting some cream on it?
AMS is selling cream, a natural connection you may think, but you won’t be pouring this on your summer berries. AMS has been appointed the sole UK distributors of Hygieia Pharmaceuticals retail range, the unique formula was created by an ex trucker from the Midlands who could no longer stand to see his wife in permanent pain from her contact dermatitis. He spent months in his garage trying to perfect the formula until he eventually had the ‘one’. The result is an antibacterial barrier cream with moisturising properties; it does not contain any alcohol, steroids or lanolin. Once applied to the skin it acts as a waterproof barrier for at least 3 hours (even after hand washing), helping to prevent the spread of bacteria whilst moisturising and soothing the skin.
The AMS team re-designed the packaging and labelling, naming the range SkinSure. There are currently 3 products, SkinSure Daily, Plus and Ultra. Plus is the formula originally created in a garage, it is now getting rave reviews from suffers of skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.
The strongest of the products, SkinSure Ultra, has caused considerable debate, based on preliminary trials it seems it may be able to help to reduce hospital acquired infections, customer testimonials suggest it may even stop MRSA. Trials are about to commence at Birmingham’s Heartlands Hospital to determine if it can be used in the NHS to fight the war on ‘superbugs’.
Asda are the fi rst retailer to stock the product (SkinSure Plus in 239 stores and SkinSure Ultra in their 85 pharmacy stores). Over the last week of April the build up to the launch of the products gained more and more momentum, the creator of the cream was in demand to appear on everything from GMTV to Radio 4. After appearing on Richard & Judy’s live evening TV show 3 days before the launch on the 30th April the phones didn’t stop ringing for 24 hours and the website received so many hits that it had to shut down. The result in store was the product quite literally fl ying off the shelves, with both the Ultra and Plus sold out within hours as people rushed to either get additional protection for loved ones going into hospital (Ultra) or to try something new on their skin condition (Plus). AMS are now speaking to other high street retailers interested in stocking the range.
In addition to the retail range, a specialist range called Pro-Shield has been developed for industry. This includes Pro-Shield Tech, which is undergoing tests to establish its suitability and conformity for use in the food industry, the product with kills bacteria such as E coli and Salmonella enteritidis could be a valuable weapon in the prevention of the spread of bacteria within the industry. Even with the constant hand washing required in packhouses or food processors the cream will remain present and continue to work for at least 3 hours. With approximately one third of the population suffering from sensitive skin at some point in their lives the cream can help protect against contact dermatitis which often occurs in industries where constant hand washing is required.
