WET from strength to strength

Since its inception in August 2003, Wellpict-European Tunnels (WET) has been growing from strength to strength. "We have experienced an overwhelmingly successful 2003/04 season in the United Kingdom - with regards to both sales and exposure to the market"

WET, who are primarily providers of multi bay tunnels, are also the sole agent for the Boxall tabletop growing system. This cost effective and durable system eas developed and tested by an existing UK strawberry tabletop grower and sales of the system are streaming in.

WET's primary tunnel component supplier is Engineered Farming Solutions (EFS). Their state of the art factory, which is based in South Africa, uses only the highest-grade material and manufacturing processes available. the galvanising process they emply ensures complete galvanising, 2.5 times thicker than any other brands.

"All our tunnel components and support structures are post manufacture, hot dip galvanised, which results in a minimum 60 micron coating of zinc, as opposed to a 25 micron coating achieved by econo-galvanising. In addition, we make use of steel tubing which has a thicker wall, enabling WET to supply a product whose durability is second to none."

He continudby explaining that this process coats the entire product, inside and out and does not leave an unprotected weld seam in the inside of the tubing as it the case with econo-galvanising. In addition, this type of galvanising has the added benefit of reionising (self-healing) if scratched during moving. The result is an exponential increase in the lifespan of the steel with up to four times the corrosive resistance of other products in the same class.

"We are confident that South African steel is on par, and in some cases exceeds, the quality of international steel products", says Cox. "one has only to take a look at the number of queries and orders which we receive from the Uk and Europe, to udnerstand that our product is of an internationally accepted standard."
